How do i change an old abandoned house into a cool hangout place?
If you're willing to paint the walls then maybe you can change the flooring. If the flooring is stable but looks bad then you can paper it. You would just need brown paper like brown paper bags or a roll of brown Kraft paper (same kind of stuff), some elmers glue, and some polyurethane and a couple paint brushes. You can google the process but it's easy, cheap, and it looks pretty cool. I helped a friend do her TV room and all the materials together cost about $55, but we did get a bunch of little bottles of elmers glue for free and had a coupon when we bought the paper and polyurethane. The brown paper will probably cost between $10 and $15, a gallon of elmers will probably cot around $11 although we got lots of free glue from people on freecycle (you can google that- it's a little like craigslist but everything's free), and the polyurethane will cost anywhere from $35 to $60 - the one my friend bought was $45 but we got a few bux off with a coupon.
You can get some solar powered table lamps or indoor lamps that will run for a few hours when they're fully charged. If you want to run other stuff then you could use a small generator although those are usually pretty expensive. I haven't seen any for less than $150. Or you could just use battery charged stuff or maybe even battery packs to power regular stuff.
I think a hand crank record player would be cool. There are neat looking ones that I would say just match just the idea of an abandoned house lol. You can have any music you want put onto a record if you can't find them already made. Although I just use an mp3 player connected to a speaker for car trips in a car with a broken radio, but the record player would be neat.
